Instead of trying to create something out of my polyhedrals, I decided I wanted to be more abstract with the first phase. I wanted to take a simple shape and focus on creating texture. So I chose the triangle and used different forms of ink dripping and brush techniques to create different textures on the structure. After going to MOMA I was inspired by tim burtons pieces and wanted to create something that slighly reflected his work. After the critique I was presented with the idea to use these different ink texture techniques to my benefit and create a packaging for ink. So I did this by once again using the same base, ink techniques and shapes, but having the idea of the ink bottle being visible in the bottom triangle through the spaces and when the package opens being able to place the ink dropper in the holder with the already dripped ink. I really enjoyed this project and thought of it as me finally becoming comfortable with working in 3D.

  1. Kate,

I am so glad you are feeling more comfortable in the 3D world as an artist and Designer.(I think of you as both)
It is evident in both polyhedral pieces that you have enjoyed the process and that is very much YOU in them.. Shapes, texture, line, contrast...
I am also very pleased to hear that you have found the inspiration to approach this project from one of the exhibition visited. Your creative attitude also shows in that moment taken for observation and reflection.

I hope you are enjoying the process of this last piece as well.

    Project 3 Grade: A+
